Joanne

I’ve had a lot of variety in both my personal and work life, and that’s how I like it.

From upholstery cutter in a small business in Bayswater, to clerk in the criminal appeals registry office at the Royal Courts of Justice in London, to cake decorator in Coburg, to dry cleaner in Bentleigh, I feel like I’ve tried it all.

I love an adventure, big or small, from a walk in the bush to see a waterfall, to jumping out of an aeroplane.

The thread that runs through everything for me though is helping, and that’s how I got involved with The Basin Community House. I had previously volunteered as a dog walker for the elderly through another organisation, but couldn’t continue after some injuries, so when the opportunity to volunteer here arose I jumped at it and haven’t looked back. Everyone I’ve met has been warm, welcoming and accepting and it’s a lovely place to work.
